Increase The Protection: Tips For Insulating The Roof

Wyatt Patterson

If you want to increase the energy efficiency of your home, take a closer look at your roof. If your roof isn't insulated, you might not have the protection you need. Most people focus on the walls and attics when insulating their homes. But, the roof needs insulation too. If you're not sure how to insulate your roof, read the list provided below. This list will help you choose the right insulation for your roof.

Radiant Barrier

When you live in a hot climate, you need roof insulation that can absorb the heat. That's where radiant barrier insulation comes into the picture. Radiant barrier insulation gets attached to the inside of the roof. Once in place, it forms a protective barrier

Rigid Panels

If you want to ensure a custom fit for your insulation, now's the time to talk to your contractor about rigid panels. Rigid panels are easy to install and can get custom-fitted to your roof. But, rigid panels also block out the air, which makes your home more energy efficient. As an added benefit, rigid panels also create a moisture barrier. This helps to reduce mould growth in your home.

Spray Foam

If you need to insulate your roof, be sure to include spray foam insulation. Spray foam insulation expands to create an airtight seal wherever it's used. One of the benefits of spray foam insulation is that it can get used anywhere in the attic. This includes small cracks and crevices. Or, it can get used to insulate the entire roof.

Blown-In

If you want to insulate the roof, it's time to think about accessibility. There are areas of the roof that aren't easy to access. This is especially true with regard to the roof joists. That's where blown-in insulation becomes beneficial. You can use blown-in insulation to protect the areas that are difficult to reach. But, you can also use spray foam insulation in the entire attic. That way, your energy protection can go beyond the roof.

Blanket

If you want a quick and easy way to insulate your roof, now's the time to choose blanket insulation. Blanket insulation comes in foil-backed rolls. This makes the insulation easy to roll into place. You can use blanket insulation for the gaps between the roof joists. But, you can also use blanket insulation for the floor of your attic, as well.

Don't take chances with your insulation. If you need to insulate the roof, use the tips provided here to choose the right type of insulation.

About Me
Having a yard for the kids to play in

I knew that the moment we bought a house with a decent yard I'd be ready to start having kids. I loved playing outside as a kid and since we've been in this house I think the kids spend nearly as much time outside as they do outside. That lawn has seen my babies crawl, my toddlers start walkings, the kids kicking balls around and playing chasey all afternoon. Keeping the lawn soft and green is so important to me as it let's us spend all that time outside. I'm always looking for ways to make it feel and look soft and green.
